Pawpaw Trees
Bare root and dormant pawpaw trees shipped to you just in time for planting before the weather gets warm in the spring.
I also have scions available of many varieties for grafting onto your existing Pawpaw trees!
I ship seedling bare root pawpaw trees in the late winter/early spring each year. If it is outside the shipping season, I will have tree reservations available for purchase.
At this time, grafted varietal trees are only available for local pickup. Our nursery is nestled deep in the Appalachian mountains in a little town called Bat Cave in North Carolina. I try to have trees available in the spring, summer and fall (if they have not sold out). Please contact me if you are interested in coming to buy some trees!
If you are in the area or willing to cover travel expenses, I offer private consultations with your Pawpaw trees or Forest Garden. This can include consultation on landscaping, orchard management, pruning, and grafting services (in the appropriate seasons).
You need two trees for pollination, but planting even more can create a heavier fruit set if you have the space. These are hard to find and as you may have heard, pawpaw trees are in high demand! They are the largest edible native fruit in America and the most cold tolerant tropical fruit. You can eat them raw or make ice cream, pies, jam, mead, beer, smoothies and more! The fruit tastes like mango banana custard typically but can have vanilla, pineapple, caramel and many other flavors depending on the ripeness, genetics and growing conditions.
The Pawpaw is VERY dear to my heart and my mission is to bring it back to popularity on the Earth! I will soon be offering grafted trees (for local pickup) and scion wood. This listing is for trees grown from seed for 1-3 years and harvested in dormancy for best transferring to your land.
I will do everything I can to ensure these plants will arrive healthy. I love edible plants and my wish is to repopulate the Earth with natural and healthy food.
